The Season of Giving at Point Hope

Nov 4, 2025

As the holidays approach, it’s the perfect time to embrace the spirit of generosity that exists within our community. At Point Hope, we believe that small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact, especially when we come together to support our neighbors in need.

The Point Hope Blessing Box

Located at Philip Simmons Elementary School right here in Point Hope, the Blessing Box is a simple yet powerful way to give back. Residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, pasta or boxed meals, for anyone who could use a helping hand.

Local Giving Opportunities

Beyond the Blessing Box, there are many ways to give this season throughout the Charleston area:

Lowcountry Food Bank: Help fight hunger by donating funds or food to support families across the region. The LFB serves more than 200,000 people who experience food insecurity every year through food pantries, meal programs, shelters and more.

Hearts of Huger: Get involved with Hearts of Huger Revitalization Efforts, which includes projects like repairing homes, renewing local recreation parks and youth development.

The Salvation Army: Contribute to their annual holiday drives or support their year-round efforts to provide shelter, meals and assistance to those in need.

Community Supported Grocery’s “Snap Back!” Program: This local initiative funds access to fresh, healthy food for SNAP-eligible families, helping make nutritious eating more affordable for everyone.

This season is a wonderful reminder to be grateful for all of our blessings and of how important it is to support those who are less fortunate. Together, we can make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need.
