Charleston is Number One (Again)!

Our home town is on a roll! For the eleventh consecutive year, Charleston has been named the Number One City in the U.S. in Travel & Leisure magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards. We’re not surprised — the attributes readers citied to back up their vote echo the attributes that attracted so many of the people we know who have chosen Charleston as their home. 

From centuries-old streets and meticulously preserved historic homes, to thriving art galleries and fascinating museums, downtown Charleston is history-lover’s dream. Its culinary offerings, including several destinations from James Beard Award-winning chefs, are internationally renown. Special cultural and sporting events ensure there’s always something new and exciting to do.

Throughout the greater Charleston region, a mild year-round climate makes it possible to enjoy tennis, golf and an active lifestyle all year long. Lowcountry waterways and the Atlantic Ocean provide spectacular scenery and recreational opportunities at every turn. Add to all of this a population of genuinely friendly locals, and it’s hard to see how you could possibly beat Charleston as a place to visit, or live.
